![]() ![]() You ruined one of my personal favorite specs, and have made no effort to actually fixing the fundamental problems besides throwing a few laughable buffs at the spec that will change virtually nothing about it. You definitely have, and I commend you for that attempt, but that's where my applause ends with Survival. I'll give you credit where credit is due Blizzard, you tried. Notice something? Not a single indication that they're melee or even have the option is present. There's a clear conflict of understanding with how this is being handled, go to the character creation screen right now, click on Hunter and watch closely the little animations they gave them. I don't care about the artifact appearances, you'll find a workaround, but this experiment has gone on for way too long. This is going on year 5 of this, and not once have myself, or anyone who plays Hunter that I know of, wants to seriously play Survival. If you don't believe me, ask around, ask other Hunters, raiders, raid leaders, arena players, rbgers. Survival has been historically towards the bottom if not completely dead last every single tier since Legion. Every melee class in the game does what Survival does and better. If anyone from Blizzard who knows or is responsible for this rework, I want you to understand something there is no reason to play a Survival Hunter. That's akin to comparing Affliction and Destruction Warlock, and gutting Affliction because Destruction has dots as well and they felt too similar. Why change Hunter to fit an aesthetic that was fine as it was? Yes, I understand Huln was the major proprietor of this, but that isn't a sufficient enough reason by itself to justify gutting an entire spec option because of "Talonclaw".Īlso, Blizzard's reasoning is awful at best, if my memory serves me right, stating "Survival felt too close to Marksmanship" and that was to justify it. We didn't change Rogues to be closer to Valeera or Vivian. We certainly didn't change Warlocks to be closer to Gul'dan. The closest we have is Rexxar but he's closer to a "hero class" character on the likes of Anduin than a Hunter himself, and we didn't change Paladins nor Priests to reflect Anduin. It's not like there was really any major in-depth canon to seeing prominent Hunters of lore being melee focused. Myself personally, I chose Hunter for two reasons, mainly because of the pet aspect of it, which Survival provides, but also because it was ranged. Either have it completely melee or completely ranged. The second major problem I have with it, is it's a strange melee ranged hybrid that does neither one well. Not only is it a shadow of it's former self, but it's kit is amalgamated and clunky at best. Survival Hunter is singlehandedly the most neglected spec in the game. The simple fix to this would be to just buff it, but buffing it won't be sufficient. ![]() Definitely not in PvE, those two specs have been overwhelmingly dominant in every single tier since it's rework. I'm not a PvPer by any stretch of the imagination, but since it's rework, there has only been once? Maybe twice where it's actually been good enough to outperform both Beast Mastery and Marksmanship. First of all, one major discussion point I want to talk about is how it hasn't been functionally good in a long time. Survival Hunter is a mess and has been since it's rework in Legion. Just as a warning, this is a long-winded, and long overdue tangent that's been brewing for years. It feels like it's generally improved upon itself over the years, except for one spec. To preface, I've been through every iteration of this class, and what a ride it's been! 16 years of this class and it never gets old. ![]()
